This is a special kind of project though and should without a doubt be a model for everyday life. Let's look at it objectively on the fundamental project success criteria : timing, quality and cost. This project for a start has no chance in hell of being late. It can be early, months early, but never late. This is a customer's dream, a project manager's nirvana. A beginner will get the same result as an expert, however many times you take on such a project, whether you plan well ahead and make a lot of preparations before you start, whether you leap into it or you inadvertently get it going and only realize once it's started that you're actually in charge, every time it'll be the same result : on time. Isn't that grand?

The quality depends on who you're asking : everybody will tell you that the final product is "wonderful", "beautiful", "an angell", "so cute" etc etc, but in private they'll be honest. And objectively, it's far from perfect : for one I can't understand how "they" can get away with no product documentation, it's like if you want you can buy books or sessions that try and explain how the product works but none of it tells you exactly how your product works, it's just in general for this kind of product!!! The product itself is shriveled, it's noisy most of the time with no silent mode, (in this day and age, get with our time guys!!!) BUT it does have a sleep mode and it comes with a long life battery with a built-in ecological charger. None of that really matters though because the magic of this kind of project is that the customer is always thrilled beyond expectations, satisfied to no end. The product delivered is always the most beautiful of it's kind. In fact as a spectator, you'll have the most success by saying that "it looks so much like you".

The cost is not negligible when you consider all the accessories that you need to buy. But accessories apart, what are we talking about : a little more food? A few adaptive clothes for mummy? So it's the accessories that cost a lot and I'm the first to admit that we will need them. How can we not buy baby clothes? How can we not buy cuddly toys? How can we not buy a baby carrier??? So project costs are way down, it's the usage costs that are important.

What does this tell us then: that what you deliver is unimportant but it needs to be on time and you need to market your product before it comes out so that the customer thinks that he'll love it. No need to spend trillions on your project, keep it simple with the basic functions (two arms, two legs, great big eyes with a smiley face and all-around cute) but make sure you have an abundance of add-ons available for the customer for him to "customize" his "baby".

So the project itself is a breezer, but what about produt maintenance? Here we are way beyond normal engagements, this is the platinum level of service, the mother of all warranties. In all countries I know, you're legally engaged for 18 years : that's a LOT. No car is guaranteed that long. For a home you get 10 years peace of mind but no more. During that time, all bugs, mishaps, accidents, are under your responsibility. If the Gremlins goes haywire, is responsible for damages to itself or others, you're responsible. Fully. You may even be fined or jailed for their actions. And listen to this. With any other product that you've put out on the market, you always have the right to say : "ladies and gentlemen, we would like to inform you that we will stop maintaining this product" This one's a life warranty : we'll have a moral engagement on this one for the rest of our lives. That's the reason why I say, have one, have a dozen because from a maintenance perspective, it's the flip side of the same coin.
